As microfinance institutions grow and diversify their product portfolio to satisfy various financial needs of their clients, their interest in microinsurance calls for more information and skills in this new product creation and delivery.
This training provides introduction to microinsurance as one of microfinance services for low-income people.
In particular the following issues are discussed:
- overview of the demand for microinsurance in ECA countries
- types of microinsurance products and their successful provision in various countries of the world
- voluntary versus compulsory insurance
- various delivery models
- product development process
- importance of market education
